Week 4 EOC: There's an App for that

I think there should be an app for the iPhone, iPad, etc. for seeing what kind of mood people are in, something similar to a mood ring where it tells you a specific color and the type of mood you are in. How it would work? You would put your finger on the screen and a certain color would appear after placing your finger on the screen for about 15 seconds. There would be different types of colors, obviously, for specific types of moods. There can be a blue color for being sad, a red for being angry, and so on. I think this app could make hits for people who have this technology. I have done some research to see if this app was made up already and it is. It is exactly how I had pitched it, people would place their finger on the screen for a certain amount of time and it comes up with a color to see what type of mood they are in. The customers who have downloaded this app did not give it great reviews. They said it was just plain stupid and boring, which I could agree since it would be a waste of gigabytes for a smartphone. The people who have created it could do something better such as maybe having a face with a type of mood they are in with the color as the skin color of the cartoon/character. It could maybe have the cartoon character have a voice that says the mood as well. It could be something that customers would enjoy just a little bit and laugh at the cartoon with a silly voice. There are millions of strange apps for the iPad, iPhone, etc. that people download for their own entertainment and that people actually enjoy!

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

A good money making cause that I have found is called Vitamma. “Vitamma's mission is to improve child health worldwide by fighting vitamin A deficiency (VAD) among children under five.” (Source: http://www.vitamma.com/our_cause.htm). What they do is kind of a similarity as TOMS, except with this company, they do not travel to the countries where children need this vitamin. “With each Vitamma Multi purchased you provide three children with two year's worth of Vitamin A enabling their young immune systems to fight infection…” (Source: http://www.vitamma.com/our_cause.htm). It is a really great company because not many children all over the world have money to help with their health, especially when they are extremely ill. “An estimated 190 million children suffer from VAD worldwide, putting them at greater risk of illness and death. An additional 350,000 children go blind each year…” (Source: http://www.vitamma.com/our_cause.htm) This company really does help out with these children in need. The customers have many options as to which types of vitamins they should buy, they have Men, Woman, Children, and Prenatal vitamins for their needs as well. The pricing on these vitamins itself is really inexpensive and absolutely affordable for these customers. Vitamma have helped millions of children a few years back so they can become more healthier than usual. I would definitely recommend people to go out and buy vitamins for either themselves or for other people because they are not only helping themselves, but they are saving children’s lives while purchasing them. The vitamins include lots of great things for the body so people can feel healthier as well. It is a win-win situation, I, myself, would definitely purchase vitamins for a really great cause in this world. It would definitely be a life changing experience for those children out there by just purchasing one bottle of vitamins.

Week 3 EOC: My Demographics

I would say I fit in with the Millennials or also known as Generation Y because I was born in 1992 and I use technology daily, whether it’s for school, homework, and even for social networks. “They don’t just embrace technology, it’s a way of life.” (Source: Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation by Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, Page 74). Everyone in my generation relies on technology every single day; it’s sort of an addiction, especially with social sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. A recent study found that 91 percent of Millennials are on the Web, making up 32 percent of all U.S. Internet users. “According to another study, 77 percent of Millennials frequent social networking sites and 71 percent use instant messaging.” (Source: Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation by Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, Page 74). The kids that are barely at the age of 2-5 have iPads already and are learning how to read via technology. It really is taking an impact for this generation. I, personally, used to be on a computer all day and night, but I have recently cut back on it due to other things in life that could be exciting. “’All generations are comfortable with technology, but this is the generation that’s been formed by technology,’ says a Yahoo! executive. For them, ‘it’s not something separate. It’s just something they do.” (Source: Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation by Gary Armstrong and Philip Kotler, Page 74). It becomes natural to individuals to have some sort of technology in their daily lives. It would be a good idea for people to do other things besides being on a computer for hours or having some technology with them, there are many things to do in this big world.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

Many people like video games, there is no age restrictions as to whom may play these video games. Although there are tons of individuals that appreciate buying and playing them, the industry is not doing very well. “From a fiscal standpoint, the last year for Nintendo was not a good one and there's no doubt that the pressure is on from investors” (Source: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-01-15-will-digital-keep-nintendo-in-hardware) I’d say that in the Nintendo industry, it has been with us for a very long time, but in my opinion, it is a Cash Cow in the marketing growth rate and a Question Mark in the relative market share. There are many other gaming systems people would choose over than Nintendo. We have a lot of technology that can bring down the video game industry because we have access to downloading games for free on the iPad, iPhone, ect. A lot of these video games include action and violence which attracts the audience in the video game industry. “As today’s video games continue to reach a broader audience, it’s no wonder the video game industry has grown 57% with total sales reaching $1.7 billion in March from the same period a year ago.” (Source: http://bx.businessweek.com/video-game-industry/) It’s a really close call with this industry; the new technology is overpowering the old, obviously because the industry needs something new. "’New console systems from Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony are expected to help the console segment regain some momentum in the 2014 to 2015 timeframe’” (Source: http://finance.yahoo.com/news/video-game-industry-set-growth-122000072.html). Sometimes, the old gaming systems can improve into the future, but it would need a lot of time to accomplish something like this in the industry because there is some tough competition with the newer gaming systems. In my opinion, there will always be a new game system that’ll beat the old.

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

Applying great customer service into work is not that hard, unless having customers that give employees a hard time. I work in the customer service industry as a Guest Service Representative for a spa in California. I’ve only been working there for about 3 months now, but I know all about customer service. From my experience, I used to go to a place where they did nail care and eyebrow threading. I had a esthetician who I used to go to that threaded my eyebrows whenever I came in. She knew me and always made time to do my eyebrows. One day, I came in to see her and she had completely messed up my eyebrow! One looked way different than the other. After that day, I never went to go do my eyebrows with her. I had been looking for places that do threaded for months and my sister recommended me this salon place at the Fashion Show Mall. I gave it a try with a new esthetician and I was extremely nervous at first, but once she was done, my eyebrows were in great shape! Although it was a long drive from where I live, it was definitely worth the drive. “Satisfied customers are more likely to be loyal customers and to give the company a larger share of their business.” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation. Page 14). I was very pleased with the work the esthetician did and I continued to go with her till this day. Whenever I come in, I only request her because she knew how I liked my eyebrows and she knows how to do them, unlike the previous esthetician. I had amazing customer service at that salon and I would definitely recommend it to people who’ve never had threading before.

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

Photography has always and will always be something I really love. I remember the first time I actually wanted to do this as a career. I was about 10 years old and the first time I picked up a disposable camera, I took a photo of a bicycle up in the California mountains. Although, it was nothing special or mind blowing, I really loved how fast the camera captured the bicycle. Ever since then, I have wanted to take pictures of everything! It took me years to save up for my own digital camera; I worked almost every day and long hours to save up. I am in college now studying photography. I haven’t been in school for about 2 years now and I am extremely excited to get my career going. I want my photographs to mean something to others and to have an impact on them. I also want my pictures to have a story so people would know what the image is about and how it could relate to individuals or even the world in general. Photography is my passion and I am really anxious to see where it will take me once I graduate from school. My dream job would be to work at National Geographic, but that’s a long shot! Hopefully, I’ll have a great career with my photography so I can show others what I do.
