“A clear mission statement acts as an ‘invisible hand’ that
guides people in the organization.” (Source: Marketing: An Introduction for Education
Management Corporation, page 39) The Bean Break's mission is to serve the best
entertainment and to provide guests' with freshly brewed coffee to keep them
coming back for more. “Mission statements should be meaningful and specific yet
motivating. They should emphasize the company’s strengths in the marketplace.”
(Source: Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation, page
41) At The Bean Break, customers will be in a very mellow environment that will
have people be stress free. It will have customers coming back because there
won’t be a coffee shop like this anywhere else. The Bean Break will suit
customers from the ages of 15-25 years old because this will be a hang out spot
for them to enjoy a cup of coffee/tea, snacks, and fine, creative entertainment
for them. “Difficulties arise in developing a product or brand that will
satisfy all consumers.” (Source: Marketing: An Introduction for Education
Management Corporation, page 187) Some people might be a bit older that might
come in and would not like what we offer them especially with the entertainment
part, but I know they will enjoy the food and beverages that we will provide
them. They are going to be all different types of beverages and food available
so everyone would have a hard time choosing. There will be many options for the
customers and I think it will be an advantage for have a wider variety of food
and beverages for them. The Bean Break will be something completely different and
something you haven’t seen before. It will knock out all the other coffee shops
in town! I do hope this company will attract the customers and give them all
their needs.

Week 8 BOC: Progress on my Final Project
So far, the theme of the coffee shop I have in mind would be
something like a minimalism, yet edgy, artsy style. There will be some premium
coffee beans, vegetarian food, different variety of teas, non-vegetarian food,
and freshly made smoothies. This coffee shop will look expensive and the
location looks like a great spot to make this absolutely possible. There will
be a ton of space for art shows, open mic nights, poetry slams, etc. The coffee
shop again, will be called ‘The Bean Break’; I’ve done research to check if
that name was taken, but it was available and I believe that it would grab
people’s attention. It will be different than Jamba Juice and Starbucks by
having entertainment for a few days a week to keep the business busy. I took a
step back and asked myself, “What kind of coffee shop would I go to?” The idea
popped up in my head with the entertainment and selling coffee/smoothies and
delicious food. It sounds like an ordinary coffee shop, but what makes it
different is, again, the entertainment portion of this place. I created an idea
as to what type of place I would go to than an ordinary coffee shop for
creative minds like myself and other people. ‘The Bean Break’ would not only be
entertaining, but absolutely satisfying to guests’ wants and needs. The free Wi-Fi
would also grab people’s attention since most Starbucks’ have very little space
to focus on working on homework and such. I am also still deciding if I should
have a stamp/punch card for guests, for example, a guest comes in to get a
coffee or a smoothie and they get a stamp for that and after 9 stamps, their 10th
stamp would be a free coffee or free smoothie.

Week 7 EOC: Restaurant/Bar Pitch
There is a location in Las Vegas just about two miles south
of the I-215 that used to be a restaurant for people. I wanted to create a
coffee shop for people and there would be something different everyday such as
poetry slam night, late study hall day, open mic night, and art shows. There
will be free Wi-Fi, food (sandwiches, pastries, etc.), tea, coffee of (course),
and smoothies. I think this would attract a lot of attention since there are not
a lot of coffee shops that offer things like this. I know I would definitely go
to a place like that if there was some in Las Vegas. I only know about a place
that does that, but it is a bar and not everyone could go there. I think it
would be an awesome thing to have in a place that has a lot of talent and there
are not many people that could show off their work and have them purchase it. I
am a creative person so I want people like me to have a hang out spot to go to
and to look at artwork or listen to music, eat great food, and enjoy the
artistic ability that everyone has. It would be a really great opportunity for
people to show off their work and to share it with others and to also share
ideas. It would also be a really great socializing spot for everyone. I would be
looking at the age group of 16-26 years old or somewhere around there. It will
be called The Bean Break and a really unique, modern environment for people to
enjoy. It will be a great coffee shop that includes all types of artistic
elements that we have in our generation. The Bean Break will be the new
Starbucks.

Week 6 EOC: Me Times Three
(Source: http://www.allinmerch.com/product/BACSUNSSTACKCREW.html)
The first item that describes me if this crewneck that I
purchased online, it one of my favorite bands and I always have merchandise
from them. I have quite a variety of sweatshirts and shirts from them. Their
music pretty much relates to me in some circumstances. Over the weekend, I went
to go see them live in Arizona which was an amazing experience. They put on a
really great show and I would definitely go and see them many more times. Their
lyrics relate to other people than just myself, but I really love them because
of their uniqueness.

The second item that describes me is my digital camera,
since obviously I love photography and I am in school for it. I got this camera
a couple years back and it took me a really long time to save up for one. I
worked extremely hard to buy this, but once I did, I fell in love with it. I
was meaning to buy one long before then, but I just never got around to it. All
the long nights at my 2 jobs at the time really did pay off since now I will be
a professional photographer.
The last item that describes me is these pair of leggings my
boyfriend had gotten me for my 20th birthday. I told him a while ago
that I was meaning to buy these, but I never got around to it. When I flew to
New York to see him in August, he surprised me and gave these leggings to me as
a gift. It means a lot to me just because it was thoughtful and it was one of
the best gifts I had gotten that year for my birthday. I always wear leggings,
but this is my favorite pair.
